Just my luck.
I spent much of my first two days on this blog predicting with great confidence a smashing victory for Barack Obama in the New Hampshire Democratic presidential primary.
I also passed along the buzz about Hillary Clinton’s candidacy hanging by a thread.
Such were the indications from the polls, the pundits and the other great seers in our political world. Those indications, it turns out,  were wrong.
But, on the bright side, the nominations in both parties are now up for grabs among a total of six, maybe seven, potential winners, which means the season’s going to be that much more fun for us political junkies.
Then again, both nominations still might be decided by the time all the votes are counted on Super Duper Tuesday, Feb. 5, when 22 states will hold primaries.

It’s shaping up as a blowout.
ABC News and other outlets are REPORTING a massive turnout of voters in the Granite State today, so big that Democratic ballots are said to be running short in some areas.
Barack Obama is going to win big.

Jesse Wendel over at The Group News Blog has this FASCINATING PIECE about the language used by the leading candidates for the Democratic presidential nomination.
Stick with it to the end and you’ll be rewarded. The links and comments also are worth checking out.

Fox News creature Sean Hannity, who’s even more smug than I (we’re both Irish, you know), had the misfortune of coming across a pack of Ron Paul enthusiasts up in New Hampshire the other night.
The Paulists were P.O.’d because their guy had been barred from a Fox News debate among the Republican presidential hopefuls.
I guess the folks at Fox, most of whom consider George W. Bush our finest president since Lincoln, didn’t want to hear Paul spewing any of his disparagements of Bush’s glorious war in Iraq.
Another likely factor is that Roger Ailes, the guy who runs Fox News, is very tight with Rudy Giuliani, the great hero of 9/11.
Anyway, here’s a video of the Paulists chasing after Sean Hannity:

Hey, why wait until tonight to find out how the Granite State elections turned out?
Here’s the order of finish:
Republicans
-
John McCain
-
Mitt Romney
-
Ron Paul
-
Mike Huckabee
-
Rudy Giuliani
Democrats
-
Barack Obama
-
John Edwards
-
Hillary Clinton
-
Bill Richardson
-
Dennis Kucinich
The riskiest predictions, if you haven’t noticed, are those that peg Clinton and Paul for third place in their respective primaries.
If I’m right about Clinton, she’s toast. Even if she finishes second, she faces tough sledding and will have to win Florida to retain viability going into Super Duper Tuesday.
Giuliani, too, has to win in Florida or his cause is hopeless.
Fred Thompson will be out of the race by the weekend.
UPDATE: The first returns in the New Hampshire primaries are in from the tiny hamlet of Dixville Notch, and Barack Obama has as many votes as all of the Republican candidates put together:
Democrats
Senator Barack Obama 7
John Edwards - 2
Gov. Bill Richardson - 1
Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton - 0
Republicans
Senator John McCain - 4
Mitt Romney - 2
Rudolph Giuliani - 1
Fred Thompson - 0
Ron Paul - 0
