Applesauce
Pat Cunningham offers an unabashedly liberal perspective on national politics. A note of caution: The language gets a litttle salty on some of the sites to which this blog links. So, don’t say you weren’t warned. By the way, this blog’s name is inspired by the Will Rogers quote, “All politics is applesauce.”

This little piece of SATIRE is amusing.

I’ve posted lots of  items in this first week  of Applesauce, but they don’t all fit on this page, nor are they all listed under “Latest Posts” on the right-hand rail.

To see the earliest pearls of wisdom (or fits of lunacy, as you might regard them), click on “Previous Posts” at the bottom of this page.

Speaking of Chris Matthews…

The host on this edition of Archaelogy Today reminds Atrios (whose site is HERE) of Chris Matthews:

Florida is supposed to be Rudy Giuliani’s firewall, the state where he finally can get back in the race for the Republican presidential nomination.

Not gonna happen, it says HERE.

Did Hillary benefit from the order of names on the ballot?

There’s a suggestion HERE that the order of names on the Democratic primary ballots in New Hampshire made the difference between Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama.

Interesting theory.

Half right, half wrong

Why were the pre-election polls in New Hampshire pretty much spot-on in the Republican race but well off the mark on the Democratic side?

Dewey defeats Truman — again

I don’t feel so bad now.

Oh, I’m a little embarrassed for having suggested in this space yesterday that Barack Obama was going to win big in New Hampshire (see HERE).  But I never actually said he won.

A couple of papers in Ireland WEREN’T SO CAREFUL. They carried headlines reminiscent of the classic blunder by the Chicago Tribune in the 1948 presidential contest between Harry Truman and Tom Dewey.
