Comments on: Dewey defeats Truman — again

Pat Cunningham offers an unabashedly liberal perspective on national politics. A note of caution: The language gets a litttle salty on some of the sites to which this blog links. So, don't say you weren't warned. By the way, this blog's name is inspired by the Will Rogers quote, "All politics is applesauce."

Pat-Despite the obvious failure of yesterdays poll prognosticators, every national survey that I have seen show close to 50% of the electorate say that they wouldn't vote for her under any circumstance. I think McCain, Rudy or Romney could beat her but by attracting different parts of the electorate. Huckabee scares the hell out of me. I would find myself voting for a 3rd party candidate. One dope from Hope is enough.

Mike: I still think Obama's going to win the nomination, but for the sake of argument, let's assume that Hillary gets it. Now, tell me, which of the Republicans is going to easily beat her? McCain? He's a dull campaigner. Romney? He's a flip-flopper? Huckabee? Even the Republican establishment is unenthused about him. This notion that everybody hates Hillary is nonsense, as the New Hampshire results attest. The most recent polls on hypothetical matchups show that Hillary would hold her own against any of the leading GOP candidates. (Of course, the vagaries of polling were demonstrated yesterday, right?)

Pat
My daughter and son-in-law were quite active in Obama's campaign in Iowa and caucused for him. The next morning at the school where my daughter teaches, all of the teachers were giddy with his win and Hillary's loss. One died in the wool Dem remarked"the bitch is dead".
Despite the win in NH, when even the Dems dislike her and her strong national negatives, I hope that she gets the nomination as I think that would ensure a Rep. victory.
