Applesauce
Pat Cunningham offers an unabashedly liberal perspective on national politics. A note of caution: The language gets a litttle salty on some of the sites to which this blog links. So, don’t say you weren’t warned. By the way, this blog’s name is inspired by the Will Rogers quote, “All politics is applesauce.”

So far, so good

4 comments January 14th, 2008

This blog is one week old today and has yet to be accused  – publicly, anyway – of making a significant contribution to the moral decay of America.

The number of posts here now exceeds 50, enough to fill six pages.  If you’re a new visitor, you might want to know that earlier entries can be accessed by clicking on “Previous Posts” at the bottom of this and subsequent pages.

And, of course, your comments always are welcome. To submit one, just click on “Add comment” below the headline on a post.

Thanks for your support and for your interest in national politics.

Warning: There are a couple of almost naugthy words in this video. There also are a lot of laughs:

It’s been almost 20 years since Ronald Reagan left the White House, and more than a few Republicans think his POLITICAL COALITION is gone.

Ex-Freeporter slimes Obama

Bob Johnson, who grew up in Freeport and went on to become America’s first black billionaire as the founder of Black Entertainment Television, made a THINLY-VEILED REFERENCE Sunday to Barack Obama’s admitted use of drugs as a teenager.

Johnson’s remarks were made during an appearance as a surrogate campaigner for Hillary Clinton at a church in South Carolina.

This is the same Bob Johnson who has DEMAGOGUED the issue of the estate tax, arguing that it’s racist. In truth, the estate tax affects only a handful of African-Americans, all of whom are wealthy.

Five conservative myths

THESE are from Kevin Drum at The Washington Monthly.

Have you any to add to the list? Or perhaps you can cite five liberal myths (although I can’t imagine).

Hillary and Obama as role models

THIS is an interesting debate on the question of whether  Hillary Clinton as president would be more important as a role model to girls than Barack Obama as president would be to blacks, especially boys.

GOP candidates not of one mind on the issue of evolution

Look, I’m not saying that evolution is an important issue in the race for the presidency. (Well, actually, I don’t think I could vote for anybody who believes that humans and dinosaurs co-existed about 6,000 years ago).

But it’s interesting to see the VARIOUS POSITIONS on the matter among the Republican candidates.
