Rudy in free fall!

Former Republican Illinois governors Jim Thompson and Jim Edgar, popular moderates both, should have known better than to endorse Rudy Giuliani for president.
They should have known that a thrice-married, pro-choice, pro-gay-rights pol from New York City has as much chance as I do of becoming their party’s choice for the White House.
They have no good cause for surprise that Giuliani now stands on the precipice of POLITICAL OBLIVION.

I think you’re wrong about the reasons for Rudy’s problems. He’s simply run a terrible campaign. He’s a one-trick pony with 9-11 and that’s going nowhere. The economy and health care have emerged as the top issues, not terrorism. Rudy also made a tactical blunder, bowing out of the early primaries to concentrate on Florida. He let his opponents pick up momentum and name recognition. He let a big lead in Florida slip away and now he has to win there to stay alive.

Wrongo, Mr. B. Giuliani didn’t let anything “slip away.” It was inevitable that the more the GOP rank-and-file learned about him , the less they would support his candidacy. The guy is simply too liberal — and too weird — to win the Republican nomination.
