Applesauce
Pat Cunningham offers an unabashedly liberal perspective on national politics. A note of caution: The language gets a litttle salty on some of the sites to which this blog links. So, don’t say you weren’t warned. By the way, this blog’s name is inspired by the Will Rogers quote, “All politics is applesauce.”

935 lies in 2 years!

But, of course, this TALLY OF FALSEHOODS was conducted by those traitorous liberal media.

If you really support our troops, you never dare to question the commander-in-chief on matters of American military policy. It just isn’t patriotic.

Now Patrick, there you go again. I suspect you realize that the studies do not at all support your “935 Lies” headline but you just can’t resist a little liberal Swift Boating in your blog.
I have a theory: Liberals, more than Social conservatives, tend to embrace myths and make-believe. They distrust realities that don’t jibe with their fairy tales. They’re more inclined to accept the theory of global-warming as proven scientific fact when,in fact, it is not. They’re more inclined to see the world in simple terms of good (Liberals, Welfare Programs, Affirmative Action) and evil (Bush, Cheney, Republicans) — with no ambiguities — just like in Oliver Stone movies. And just like the false images of America that Bill Clinton and Al Gore used to peddle.
Let me know what you think.

Michael, Michael, Michael: You’ve found me out. I’m just a liberal swift-boater. I’m so ashamed. I’ve exaggerated Dear Leader’s dishonesty. It’s not really 935 lies, is it? How many is it, Mike? Probably no more than 500, right? And not a single one of them has anything to do with sex in the Oval Office. Compared to Slick Willie, this Bush guy is a saint.

    Patrick
Just a bit touchy this am aren’t we. The studies , of course, are built on the premise that since Saddam had no weapons of Mass Destruction contrary to what everyone, including Slick Willie, believed that all statements made about WMDS were, therefore, a falsehood. Fair enough as long as you then start counting the falsehoods uttered by SW and AG and all members of that august administration as well.
And what the hell Pat, even if Bush lied I thought we had established that lying was no big deal for a President.Or is that only when you are under oath?

Mike: Touchy? Me? Never! As for any comparison of Bush’s lies to Clinton’s, it’s no contest. Lying about extramarital sex is not as egregious as lying to get us into a war. Perhaps the worst of the Bush administration’s falsehoods was the one that was implied, especially by Dick Cheney, but never flatly stated. I refer, of course, to the suggestions that Saddam Hussein and the Iraqis were somehow involved in the attacks of 9/11. There are still a lot of people who believe that nonsense. By the way, that “august administration,” as you call the Clinton gang, was far more successful and thus popular than this administration.

    Pat
Clinton=Perjury, Subornation of Perjury, Witness Tampering (that’s what the plea bargain on his law license was all about)etc vs.
Bush=Sorry-the inane ramblings of the Moveon.org set are unable to prove a single lie because there weren’t any. I thought you liked to deal in facts.
Clinton’s administration as successful? The historians have declared him a dud at best. Popular? I suppose in the way that your crazy aunt might be popular with the children but you wouldn’t want to live with him. By the way-which of his 2 elections did your “popuar”hero secure 50% or more of the popular vote?
The historians may label Bush’s administartion to be a failure but it is certain that they have already deemed Clinton inconsequential. That is why he wants back in the White House so badly.

Yet another George Soros-funded study asserting once again in the 8th year of his Presidency that “Bush Lied” ain’t exactly cutting-edge news. Y’all are certainly gonna miss GWB when he’s gone!

  • 7. hokumboy  |  January 23rd, 2008 at 6:29 pm

    Yes, we’ll miss him.
    But in a good way.

  • 8. Pat Cunningham  |  January 23rd, 2008 at 7:01 pm

Hell, I still miss Nixon. (Ah, those wonderful days of the so-called Great Silent Majority. And Spiro Agnew. And Nixon’s “secret plan” to get us out of Vietnam. And, of course, Watergate. What fun!)
