Applesauce
Pat Cunningham offers an unabashedly liberal perspective on national politics. A note of caution: The language gets a litttle salty on some of the sites to which this blog links. So, don’t say you weren’t warned. By the way, this blog’s name is inspired by the Will Rogers quote, “All politics is applesauce.”

Two JFK kin endorse Obama

In what’s seen as a blow to Hillary Clinton’s campaign, John F. Kennedy’s daughter Caroline and his brother Ted are endorsing Barack Obama’s presidential candidacy (HERE and HERE).

The nod from Teddy is especially important in that it gives Obama standing with traditional liberals. It’s also the result, if the rumors are true, of Kennedy’s distaste for what he sees as nasty campaigning in recent weeks by Hillary and Bill Clinton.

Kennedy is even said to have shouted at Bill Clinton during a recent phone conversation about the tone of the campaign rhetoric.

UPDATE: Here’s MORE on Teddy’s endorsement.

I think your objectivity is clouded. Obama is way, way behind in the polls in California and New York. He is a long way from the nomination and it is going to take more, a LOT more than drunken Teddy Kennedy for him to win key states on Super Tuesday.

By the way, explain to me: what exactly has Bill Clinton said that is negative or racist? I don’t see it. He said that Jesse Jackson won in SC in 1984 and in 1988. That is a fact. He called Obama’s career a “fairy tale”. How is that inaccurate? He’s had everything handed to him.

The big difference is that in 1988, Jesse was getting measurable support from White (blue collar) worker and unionists. Obama got what, 1 out of 4 whites you said??

So Obama’s big “win” where 51% of the Democrats are Black is not a surprise. Why the big margin? Because the Blacks turned out in record numbers, that’s why. And why did they overwhelmingly choose Obama?? Well gee, I’m sure it is undoubtedly because Obama has such vast experience in government, right?..and because he has such a distinguished track record in Washington??
But seriously, if Obama does as much for the Blacks as he has done for the people of Illinois over the last 2 years, we’re both going to end up pretty darn shorthanded.
