Here’s where the surge hasn’t worked

More than ever, the American people think the war in Iraq has NOT BEEN WORTH THE COST in money and lives.
The presidential candidates would do well to take note.Â

This whole business about the surge working is a big catch-22. By logic, if it’s “working”, then we should be able to withdraw our troops.
Bush and his fellow Republicans turn it completely backwards. They seem to maintain that since it’s working, the troops need to stay there or at least most of them need to stay. The point is also missed that since we have so many troops in Iraq, we do not have enough left over to do the job in Afghanistan, where the threat is much greater to us and where the Taliban is gaining strength. Why don’t the questioners on these debates ever bring up Afghanistan and Pakistan?
