Applesauce
Pat Cunningham offers an unabashedly liberal perspective on national politics. A note of caution: The language gets a litttle salty on some of the sites to which this blog links. So, don’t say you weren’t warned. By the way, this blog’s name is inspired by the Will Rogers quote, “All politics is applesauce.”

Well, that settles it. I would certainly trust that Gang of 4.

Hey, I’d trust them before I’d trust those who put the telecom giants ahead of national security. Seriously, Mike, how does it feel to support the most unpopular and unethical administration since the Nixon gang?

Sounds like both political parties are playing a game…the Democrats make it sound like they blocked FISA altogether until you read the fine print which says “use FISA against the republicans until after the election before we vote yes to re extend it”. Be honest, the phone companies capture all your phone call records now, the credit card companies know what you’ve bought, and GPS data tells us where you’ve driven. You are worried about the government pulling phone call records illegally? Unless you are doing something you shouldn’t be…why take a risk with terrorists…oh that’s right, terrorists aren’t really a threat…just a scare tactic. Terrorism didn’t exist before Bush….and Sandy Pants Burger won’t share the naughty bits Bill (More Ethical than Bushie?) Clinton did.

The most unethical administration since Nixon’s? Were you suffering a prolonged acid flashback during the Bubba administration?
Unpopular yes. Sometimes that happens when you do the right things and the MSM pounds you to death.
History will judge Bush as a better president than Bubba, Peanuts, LBJ and JFK (who was an unmitigated foreign policy disaster).

I’m starting to worry about Carroll’s preponderance to discuss inhaling….and now acid flash backs…..but his points are SOLID Gold.

I’m not sure where these comments are coming from, but I’ve talked with a few attorneys about the whole wiretapping issue and they can’t understand why the govenment needs greater powers in this area. As the article states, it’ relatively easy to get warrants, and if you can’t get one right away, you can still do the bugging for three days and then get the warrant. If it’s justified, the court doesn’t seem to have problem with it. It’s funny that those who feel our government should throw out the constitution in these matters are right in step with the totalitarian regimes they claim to fear.

I think that FISA can be modified to make everyone happy…and now they have 1 year to do it. If we need instant pinpointing of phone calls, regulations could be created to protect our privacy laws. The whole FISA uproar is political. If you don’t believe me, wait a year…we will have a democratic congress and president. And FISA will still be around….altered….but still existing.
