Applesauce
Pat Cunningham offers an unabashedly liberal perspective on national politics. A note of caution: The language gets a litttle salty on some of the sites to which this blog links. So, don’t say you weren’t warned. By the way, this blog’s name is inspired by the Will Rogers quote, “All politics is applesauce.”

Morning Joe and sidekick find Obama lacking manliness when it comes to bowling

MSNBC morning blabbers Joe Scarborough (above) and Willie Geist proudly hinted that their testosterone levels are way up there when they found fault with Barack Obama’s “prissy” performance in a Pennsylvania bowling alley.

The network actually pays these guys money for stuff like THIS.

A rose by any other name…

Conservatives have had a certain amount of success in demonizing the word “liberal” in recent decades — so much so, in fact, that some people seem to think that merely calling a person or an idea liberal constitutes an effectively negative argument.

Ah, but labels aside, the truth is that Americans today are less conservative and more liberal than they have been at any time in the last 20 years.

Check it out HERE.

I ran across this thing on DailyKos.  It doesn’t have anything to do with politics (except in the sense that everything is political), but it’s kind of cool:

John McCain seems to want our 44th president to emulate the 31st. At least, that’s what it says HERE.

Peggy Noonan doesn’t often write columns with which I mostly agree, but THIS ONE does the job.

More than just a number

His name was Chris Hake, and he was the 4,000th (or close to it)  U.S. military-service person killed in the Iraq war.

HERE’s a little about him.

In the first of our Applesauce rankings of American voters on the basis of smarts and awareness, we find independents in the lead followed in order by Democrats and Republicans.

Our lone criterion for this inaugural survey is the question of which voters are stupid enough to believe the widely and thoroughly discredited notion that Barack Obama is a Muslim.

We find in THIS POLL  that 14 percent of Republicans think the Illinois senator embraces the Islamic faith. Ten percent of Democrats and eight percent of independents agree.

We can only hope that these percentages gradually will decline — or that most of these dopes won’t participate in the November election.

Sure and begorrah, she’s full of blarney
