It all evens out

Remember that “Deep Thoughts” schtick they did on “Saturday Night Live” all through the ’90s? It involved brief syrupy recitations of absurd one-liners written by a guy named Jack Handey.
Well, I ran across THIS by Handey in the latest issue of the New Yorker. It has nothing to do with politics, but I thought I’d share it with you anyway. It’s funny.

Handey’s a very funny guy. He did a book called “Fuzzy Memories” several years ago that collected longer pieces along the Deep Thoughts line, and it was hilarious. I still remember the one about the kid on Thanksgiving who was horrified the family was eating his pet pie, “Pumpkie”

I had no idea Jack Handey was still doing his thing. I like how it is basically the same as Deep Thoughts, but in column form.
Here’s my fav, everyone should have one.

One of my Jack Handey favorites is this: I think that free speech does not necessarily imply that you have the right to stand up in a crowded movie theatre and yell that you’re Sharon Stone’s boyfriend, she’s with you now, and you’re going to boink her later.

Another favorite: “What is it that makes a complete stranger dive into an icy river to save a solid gold baby? Maybe we’ll never know.”
