Applesauce
Pat Cunningham offers an unabashedly liberal perspective on national politics. A note of caution: The language gets a litttle salty on some of the sites to which this blog links. So, don’t say you weren’t warned. By the way, this blog’s name is inspired by the Will Rogers quote, “All politics is applesauce.” |

The Left’s weak knee jerk reaction to the Nation of Islam and Mr. Hope…..come on! This ploy will never get any real traction.

Huh?

Kaus: What are you talking about? What “knee-jerk reaction to the Nation of Islam”? What “ploy will never again any real traction”? What are you talking about?
4. Pat Cunningham | March 3rd, 2008 at 8:58 pm
Oops. My finger slipped. I mean “gain” any real traction, not “again” any real traction.

Gee, do I have to explain…ok…first
1. Republicans make issue of Farrakahn endorsing Obama.
2. Democrats counter with finding the first crazy preacher (Hagee) to endorse Mccain. (no doubt the Catholic guy that made it an issue was a democrat to begin with)
Why won’t it gain traction 1 month from now?
1. Catholics think Protestants have a flawed theology
2. Protestants think Catholics have a flawed theology
3. Catholics and Protestants still like each other and don’t care
4. Stronger words were said about Mit Romney and Mormanism
5. Last time I checked, Muslim terrorists blew up the Twin Towers,
6. Being muslim strikes greater fear in the general population than being Catholic or Protestant or Morman.
My personal viewpoint: I love all races, creeds and colors…even muslims.

I forgot one additional point…
7. Hagee is pro Israel….most people that vote Republican are pro Israel and pro Jewish.

Kaus,
using the term “even muslims.” seems to say a lot about you.
8. Kaus | March 3rd, 2008 at 10:06 pm
I emphasized “even Muslims” just for the race baiting crowd….people like you. If I hadn’t, you would have brought it up anyway about point 5.

Kaus: Three points:
1. The Hagee video I posted was released eight months ago, not in response to his endorsement of McCain and not on behalf of Obama or any candidate. 2) Hagee is a flaming anti-Semite who blames Jews for their own oppression, including the Holocaust. His love of Israel is purely apocalyptic. He’s eager for some certain country or countries to attack Israel, which he thinks will bring the world one big step closer to the return of Christ. He’s an End Times guy. 3. Other than in your mind, the Hagee video and my posting of it have nothing whatever to do with Muslims. Your mention of Muslims in this context is a non sequitur — unless you want to bring up this comparison: McCain solicited Hagee’s endorsement and appeared with him when it was conferred. Nor has he renounced it. Obama neither sought nor accepted Farrakhan’s endorsement. He rejected it. He also spoke out against Farrakhan’s bigotry long before he became a presidential candidate. The two situations, McCain’s and Obama’s, are not analagous. Both men got endorsed by bigots; one of them asked for the endorsement and still welcomes it; the other didn’t ask for it and wants nothing to do with it.

The people depicted in the video are scary. In essense, they’re endorsing war, suffering and destruction all in the name of Jesus Christ. They only support Israel as a means of the world coming to an end, according to their beliefs. They really hate Jews and Judaism. Why any Jews would support them is beyond me. Joe Lieberman should be ashamed of himself.

1. Pat, you put the video out because of Hagee endorsement, which I have no objection to. It is wild stuff ! All I’m saying is that it won’t amount to much a month from now.
2, Hagee has been doing his schtick for as long as Farrakahn….this is not new. Mccain didn’t do his homework.
3. I know the video has nothing to do with Muslims. The only correlation is in regards to endorsing a republican and a democrat. I’m saying the Farrakahn endorsement will still be ringing in voters heads longer than Mr. Hagee. I personally think both guys are clowns ok?
4. Mr. Baseball, why should Joe Lieberman be ashamed of himself?
