Applesauce
Pat Cunningham offers an unabashedly liberal perspective on national politics. A note of caution: The language gets a litttle salty on some of the sites to which this blog links. So, don’t say you weren’t warned. By the way, this blog’s name is inspired by the Will Rogers quote, “All politics is applesauce.”

My position on that issue is…uh…uh

John McCain is one of the great political FLIP-FLOPPERS of our time.

POSTSCRIPT: THIS POLL shows that Republicans like Barack Obama almost as much as they like McCain.

The article brings up “its the shameless pandering”…..Hillary and Bama don’t shameless pander, just Mccain? I think we need a pandering meter to see who runs up the highest score…. they all stink up the joint. When Obama figures out which side he is on regarding Nafta…let me know.

Kaus: Clearly, McCain’s record of flips is far, far greater than those of either Obama or Clinton. I flatly defy you to prove otherwise. (Cue the crickets, as Kaus finds himself unable to respond on point. Eventually, however, he’ll try to change the subject.)

So you admit that Hillary and Mr. Hope both pander! Wow, what a major step on the road to reality Mr. Cunningham!

Do empty promises with no realistic gameplan count….or do you want just flip flopping. Pandering is worse than flip flopping. And changing one’s speaking accent to match her constituents (Hillary), is that acting….or is that considered pandering? I want to make sure I get the ground rules before I do my research :-)

Kaus-look at the Bio of the guy who wrote the article and it will tell you all you need to know. At best, he is a liberal political operative whose “reporting” should be taken with a grain of salt. At worst, it looks like he spends a lot of time unemployed-that’s what freelance means in liberal speak.
And Pat, 1.before you cue the crickets on me, show me any politician whose stances have not changed over the years and 2. before you tell me to research and refute the various points remember that some of us work for a living to supply the Social Security set (or greedy geezers as I refer to you) with a steady flow of my cash into your coffers.

Great, lets blame the writer…face it, McCain’s “FLIPFLOPS” are exactly the complaint Reps. pointed out in Kerry…And, McCains “FLIPFLOPS” are exactly why the “conservative” wing is not rushing to support him…

Mike: I think you’re onto something: McCain can blame his inconsistencies on liberal bloggers. Oh, by the way, I’m truly grateful for the Social Security money you’re sending my way. If I’m lucky, I’ll croak before your Republican friends screw up the system.

Kerry lost the election, but don’t blame it all on flip flopping…Kerry was a french loving stuffed shirt with an unamerican wife. I appreciate the fact that the term ” flip flopper ” sure got under the skin of the democrat party.

Kaus: There is no such thing as “the Democrat Party,” That bit of bad grammar is the vernacular of right-wing Publican nitwits who think it sounds pejorative. The real name is the Democratic Party. Oh, by the way, thanks for explaining that Kerry’s loss in ‘04 was due in part to his love of France. I didn’t know that. I thought it was just a matter of more voters preferring a shirker who skipped out on his military service to a guy who got wounded in Vietnam. And what’s this crap about Kerry’s wife being unAmerican? Kaus, you listen to Limbaugh too much.

Pat-don’t worry, your liberal pals won’t accept the reality of FDR’s unsustainable Ponzi scheme until it implodes. Demographics are not partisan. You can’t tax enough to support the liabilities without crippling the younger generation and the economy.Private accounts are the only answer and it will be entertaining to watch the liberal meltdown when some version of W’s plan is adopted in the future.

The reality is that the Social Security system is not nearly as shaky as the demagogues claim. A little minor tweaking (like raising the income ceiling on Social Security taxes) would take care of it. As for Bush’s plan, you seem to have forgotten how it went down in flames of public disapproval three years ago. Funny, I don’t hear many Republicans these days promising to resurrect Bush’s hare-brained scheme.

Pat-it took me 4 years to master Latin but decades to master liberalspeak. Minor tweaking equals massive tax increase. As it is, those who earn above the income ceiling get a tax increase every year as the ceiling moves up every year.
And no, I haven’t forgotten how W’s plan went down from Liberal misrepresentation of grandma becoming penniless.
It will be back in some form or another. There will be no choice and I will comment when time allows on the posting by Krugman.
