Spitzer tied to hookers?
March 10th, 2008 at 01:36pm Pat Cunningham
Wow! New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer, a Democrat, is expected to make a statement this afternoon about his involvement in a high-priced prostitution ring.
HERE’s what we know at this point.
UPDATE: There’s more HERE about the hooker ring in question.
UPDATE II: Hey, Hillary. There’s going to be an executive post opening soon in Albany. You should be able to swing the appointment. That would allow you to bow out of the presidential race with dignity. Go for it.
UPDATE III: THIS is just one of dozens of blog posts in recent weeks suggesting that Eliot Spitzer might make a good running mate for Barack Obama. I guess we can scratch that idea, huh?
UPDATE IV: THIS GUY says good riddance to Spitzer.
UPDATE V: THIS is how the feds sniffed out Spitzer’s trail to the prostitution ring (allegedly, of course).

Come now Patrick. Surely you have some biting commentary to make regarding the latest liberal lion of the Northeast Corridor caught with his pants down, so to speak.

Mike: Imagine my surprise to see a Democrat involved in something like this. It’s usually Republicans — family-values Republicans, to be precise — who are caught doing stuff like this. Well, I feel sorry for Spitzer’s family. They can at least take solace in the fact that this wasn’t some sleazy restroom tryst or a case involving cheap hookers. The women in this deal,as I understand, were pretty pricey. You can always count on the Democrats to keep it classy. Makes me proud.

…as classy as Jim McGreevy at NJ Turnpike truck stop.

The dems don’t have conservative republican standards in the party platform…which is why an issue like this shouldn’t matter. Republicans should be held to a higher standard because they are SUPPOSED to represent conservative values…if they don’t, throw them out! Tony Rezco, Bill’s girlfriends, Hillary’s girlfriends….not an issue in Democrat-land.

Kaus: You’re brilliant. “Dems don’t have conservative Republican values in the party platform.” Wow! Imagine that. And Repubs don’t have liberal Democratic standards in their platform. Will wonders never cease?

Ok…I’ll phrase another way. Sexual morality shouldn’t matter in the Liberal platform.
7. Pat Cunningham | March 10th, 2008 at 7:20 pm
Now, why would you say something like that? Liberals have no sexual morality, right? Liberals have no problem with adultery, incest, rape, pedophilia, etc.. right? Obviously, you know nothing about liberalism.

It’s high time we stopped making a big deal out of politicians and their sexual activities. It has nothing to do with their ability to do a job. I don’t care who’s getting it up with who; I do care if the stock market is up, if gas prices are up and if somebody is getting shot up in a needless war.

Justin: I agree with you…to a point. I think prostitution should be legal, but it’s not, and Spitzer, of all people, should have known the risks he was running in a situation like this. The man seems to have almost wanted to get in trouble. Well, he’s ruined his career and maybe his marriage as well.

Pat, don’t get upset. The liberal platform tries to appeal to a wide base. The Republican platform tries to attract the Christian moral majority and is mercilessly unforgiving of mistakes in moral judgement. The democratic party has been very forgiving of Bill Clinton’s past, or for that matter Ted Kennedy and Barney Frank. Since you have been very critical of the Christian right, you need to accept it as fact.

What “Christian moral majority”? Does they even exist? What “liberal platform”? Does that even exist? Maybe they should be more forgiving, then Larry Craig would have to troll the public restrooms.

Equality…JustinTime is a Progressive Liberal Democrat….read his response and you should get a good picture of what the ‘platform’ is. As far ast the Moral Majority….they exist everywhere and Pat is deathly afraid of them.

Kaus, Liberals are everywhere and now they are not afraid to express their views, hopefully you aren’t deathly afraid.

Dude, in my opinion, it is the ‘fall of Rome’ with the liberal viewpoint.
