Applesauce
Pat Cunningham offers an unabashedly liberal perspective on national politics. A note of caution: The language gets a litttle salty on some of the sites to which this blog links. So, don’t say you weren’t warned. By the way, this blog’s name is inspired by the Will Rogers quote, “All politics is applesauce.”

Keith has it just about right

Keith bashes Hillary saying she is acting like a republican, but I’m scratching my head on the following….Has the whitehouse ever had a Democratic President with a Cabinet member that was not white? Any Latin Americans? Any Blacks? I know Clinton had a woman attorney general. What makes Democrats think there isn’t racism in the Democratic party?

Where in the hell did you ever get the idea that, as you put it, “Democrats think there isn’t racism in the Democratic Party”? I don’t know of a single Democrat who thinks that. Did you actually watch this video? Did you notice that it’s about Democrats complaining about racism in the Clinton campaign? Have you noticed that Clinton is a Democrat? The history of racism in the Democratic Party is long and sordid. History also shows us that once the Democratic Party started moving toward support of civil rights, Southern whites switched to the Republican Party in droves. Gee, I wonder why. As for blacks in Democratic administration Cabinet positions, Bill Clinton had more than all previous presidents combined. They included Ron Brown, Mike Espy, Alexis Herman, Hazel O’Leary, Rodney Slater, Jesse Brown, Togo West, Jocelyn Elders and Dr. David Satcher. Clinton also had nine black assistants to the president, the highest White House position. You should try reading more history, Kaus.

One of the first comments out of Keith O was his slant that Hillary’s racist campaign was republican-like. Well that got me to thinking… what is so racist about Republicans? Bush has an ethnic cabinet. I’m sorry if you thought my questions were rhetorical, but I hadn’t read the details behind the Clinton Cabinet. I suppose I could say that Bush’s black appointees were higher ranking than Clinton’s. What got my goat is this branding of racism in the Republican party…which you seem to agree with.
