Applesauce
Pat Cunningham offers an unabashedly liberal perspective on national politics. A note of caution: The language gets a litttle salty on some of the sites to which this blog links. So, don’t say you weren’t warned. By the way, this blog’s name is inspired by the Will Rogers quote, “All politics is applesauce.”

Try to imagine Dubya making this speech

Not a good choice here Pat. The words may sound good, but JFK ran one of the most hypocritical, secretive administrations in the history of our country, It starts with the Bay of Pigs, continues with our involvement in Vietnam and includes his ties to organized crime along with prostitutes in the White House. Kennedy talked a good game and was a great speaker. But he continually lied to the American people and covered up his mistakes. Even the Cuban Missile crisis was brought on by his obsession over Castro and his miscalculation of the Soviets.
In several aspects of foreign policy, Kennedy and Bush are remarkably alike.

You’re right, of course, Mr. B., which leaves me with only one valid point: Dubya still could never be so eloquent. I judged the speech by the noble content and smooth delivery , not by the speaker’s hypocrisy and insincerity. You see, I’m quite naive and easily misled by anybody so charming. I thank you for not commenting here until this post had reached the bottom of the stack on the front page of Applesauce where few other readers will see how you’ve humiliated me.
