Applesauce
Pat Cunningham offers an unabashedly liberal perspective on national politics. A note of caution: The language gets a litttle salty on some of the sites to which this blog links. So, don’t say you weren’t warned. By the way, this blog’s name is inspired by the Will Rogers quote, “All politics is applesauce.”

‘Clinton is in a bad place’

Trailing in states won, popular votes, delegates and money, Hillary Clinton’s ONLY AVAILABLE STRATEGY is to tear down Barack Obama.

I still would vote for her over John McCain in November, but my commitment in that regard is rapidly weakening as she and her handlers further disgrace themselves.

POSTSCRIPT: Downticket Democrats have GOOD REASON to hope that Obama is the nominee.

A Yellow Dog Democrat comes clean!

Look, I didn’t say I’d vote for McCain. I’d waste my vote on Nader before I’d go with Mr. Straight Talk, the darling of the lobbyists.

At least Mr. “straight talk” isn’t the darling of earmarks like your Mr. Obama….Obama sure has a lot of them! It’s bad enough funding W’s war….now I have to increase my tax handout for those Deomocratic earmarks…

Kaus: You seem like a nice person, but you can be maddeningly obtuse. A Senate amendment that would impose a one-year moratorium on earmarks was defeated last night, with 25 Republicans voting against it. Clinton, Obama and McCain voted for the moratorium. So why are you babbling about “those Democratic earmarks”? What about the Republican earmarks?
Don’t you realize that Republicans in Congress generally endeavor to bring home the bacon, just like the Democrats? That’s how they get elected.

Obama has issued some 46 earmarks to Hillary’s 261. And John McCain? “0″. You don’t like lobbyists (not sure I do either), but I don’t like earmarks. Bringing home the bacon doesn’t balance the budget…neither does W’s war. All bad. Love ya Pat.
