Applesauce
Pat Cunningham offers an unabashedly liberal perspective on national politics. A note of caution: The language gets a litttle salty on some of the sites to which this blog links. So, don’t say you weren’t warned. By the way, this blog’s name is inspired by the Will Rogers quote, “All politics is applesauce.”

I told you about THIS yesterday, and now the controversy is growing, as we saw THIS MORNING and then later THIS AFTERNOON.

The American death toll in Iraq has reached 4,000.

A U.S. military spokesman played down the significance of the number, declaring: “No casualty is more or less significant than another…”

Yeah, to paraphrase Joseph Stalin: One death is a tragedy; 4,000 deaths is a statistic.

POSTSCRIPT: By the way, 97 percent of U.S. military deaths in Iraq have occurred since President Bush postured on the deck of the USS Abraham Lincoln in front of a sign reading: “Mission Accomplished.”
