Movie tough guy Richard Widmark, “a passionate liberal Democrat,” dies at age 93

Actor Richard Widmark, who went to high school in Princeton, Ill., about 90 minutes down the road from Rockford, has DIED  at age 93.
If you’ve never seen it, make a point of catching Widmark’s movie debut in “Kiss of Death.” His character is unforgettably evil.
Despite his screen image, Widmark is said to have hated guns and violence. He also hated the Hollywood scene and jealously guarded his privacy.

Widmark was a true class act. Check him out in JUDGEMENT AT NUREMBURG if you’ve never seen it before (and I think you probably have, Pat) — he’s great.

He was never not good. Some of his movies weren’t the greatest, but he was always believable and magnetic, even if only quietly so.

Always one of my favorite actors.
