Applesauce
Pat Cunningham offers an unabashedly liberal perspective on national politics. A note of caution: The language gets a litttle salty on some of the sites to which this blog links. So, don’t say you weren’t warned. By the way, this blog’s name is inspired by the Will Rogers quote, “All politics is applesauce.”

“The worst case of cognitive dissonance in the history of modern politics”

Peggy Noonan doesn’t often write columns with which I mostly agree, but THIS ONE does the job.

The Noonan column is right on. I just hope Obama makes a good showing in Pennsylvania, however that’s defined, and sweeps the rest of the primaries. Then the real campaign can begin. I lliked McCain’s recent statements about using more diplomacy and listening to our allies. Of course, how does he square that with his initial support of the Iraq war when most of our allies said it was a mistake?

i have to agree, somewhat, w/ the american pastime fella. however, i do not believe obam bam has a suicide vest wearers chance @ surviving the race to the white house.

you don’t tout a book, and run for president and call that enough experience to be president. what has, and i repeat, what has this man done to deserve the presidency?? where is his experience?? a good speech in front of partisan crowds @ a convention is not enough to become president.

I believe barack is a good speaker..what else?? I could not tell you. Oprah has endorsed. Who cares?? I read a book the big o endorsed and it was bad….a nice shiny cover, a big endorsement from Oprah but turned out to be a dog. I wonder if Obama will be the same. I think the political connections the Clintons have will be important. As far as people who say she is polarizing, I would say it is they who are polarizing. I believe some people do not like her because she is a woman and assertive. Is that not what we need in a presidaent?? Don’t believe the Obama hype!! Where is the beef??

David Brooks of the NYTimes said it best today on “Meet the Press”. Hillary should tone down the rhetoric and personal attacks because with so little policy difference between Obama and herself, the only place to go is the raw open wounds of race and gender–a place that instead of being uplifting and monumental, becomes hurtful and stereotyped. Brooks went on to say that she should finish out the remaining Big 3 of Penn. Ind, and North Carolina, then knowing she can’t win, bow out gracefully, not because she is WEAK, but because she is STRONG–and its best for the party, and for America.

5 Years in a POW camp is strong….waiting up for Billy Boy to come home from his escapades is the best she has to offer. Sad.

Alexander: I think you and David Brooks are right (which is unusual for him; I don’t know about you).

We need about 100,000 Americans to go before a judge and publicly declare
that their middle names are their legal names for all public purposes.
And they should also declare themselves as supporters of the Hussein
for Imam–whoops I mean president coalition. Hussein will be the
first Muslim president. Free Burkhas for everybody! Hussein’s first
act will be to replace the flag with the red crescent. Hussein has
always hated that other flag with every fiber of his being. Which is
why he won’t pledge to it and won’t wear a flag lapel pin. But Hussein
will proudly salute a flag representative of a non European religion!
When Hussein takes office every child will be required to attend a
Madras just as Hussein did when he was a child. It is so good to be
able to use a candidate’s middle name and talk about his formative
years and his education. Because if you couldn’t that would mean
that the candidate is ashamed of what he was and what he has become.
Welcome to a pork free world with no ham or pizza. You must not offer a pork chop
to Hussein. You must not put pork grease on your hands or your money
and certainly not hallowed ground. No pork anywhere!

Alice Jones, tinfoil hat wearing saucer nut recently came out of the closet and
revealed that she is a radical Muslim and a supporter of Hussein for
    for president.

—coming to you from under the straight talk express.

    Thanks “z”,
    You made my day.
That was the funniest thing I’ve read all weekend!

    Now,
    if you’re serious,,,,
You should get out more, read more, and pray to God that the fate of Our Country isn’t decided by people like you.

I think z had his tongue firmly planted in his cheek.

I hope so, sarcasm often doesn’t translate too well on the printed page. But, I know too many people who actually think that way.
