Applesauce
Pat Cunningham offers an unabashedly liberal perspective on national politics. A note of caution: The language gets a litttle salty on some of the sites to which this blog links. So, don’t say you weren’t warned. By the way, this blog’s name is inspired by the Will Rogers quote, “All politics is applesauce.”

Never mind whether it was Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama who did better in tonight’s Democratic presidential debate on ABC.

The real story was the amazingly awful performances by moderators Charles Gibson (above) and George Stephanopoulos, who spent the first 45 minutes belaboring the campaign’s sideshow issues — and didn’t raise the level of discourse by much after that.  It was truly embarrassing.

It was so bad, in fact, that the crowd booed Gibson at the end.

More reactions HERE and HERE and HERE and HERE.

UPDATE: I like THIS GUY’s take.

UPDATE II (Thursday morning): The Washington Post’s Tom Shales, the nation’s preeminent TV critic, SAYS Gibson and Stephanopoulos “turned in shoddy, despicable performances.”

UPDATE III (Thurs.): THIS ONE tells you a lot about the myth of the “liberal” media.

“If you don’t actually think you’re better than us, then what the *@#% are you doing?”

Bruce Springsteen of “Born in the USA” fame has ENDORSED Barack Obama for president.

That ought to do it.

UPDATE: More good news for Obama.  He’s got the support of these white-haired women:

C’mon, people, get with it: The culture war is so ’80s and ’90s; class warfare is the new thing

I’m a Marxist only in the sense that “Duck Soup” is one of my favorite movies, but I find THIS ANALYSIS encouraging.

Besides, I’m comforted any time I hear the plutocrats and their minions nervously warning against the rise of “class warfare.”  I figure somebody must have advanced an idea relating to economic justice.

POSTSCRIPT: This video is both funny and relevant to the issue of economic justice:

Hillary stars in “Bosnia and Back Again”
