THIS is from five years ago, but it’s no less germaine today –perhaps even more so.
Applesauce
Pat Cunningham offers an unabashedly liberal perspective on national politics. A note of caution: The language gets a litttle salty on some of the sites to which this blog links. So, don’t say you weren’t warned. By the way, this blog’s name is inspired by the Will Rogers quote, “All politics is applesauce.” |

Newsweek is out with a NEW POLL this afternoon that shows Barack Obama taking a whopping lead of 19 percentage points over Hillary Clinton among Democratic voters nationwide.
But I’m a little skeptical. The margin of error in this poll is 5 percentage points, which is fairly high. Moreover, a slight majority of the voters involved were interviewed before Wednesday night’s debate, which could have changed some people’s minds.
Still, the magazine says “Obama appears to have the momentum on nearly every front, both among Democrats and general voters nationwide…[B]y a large margin (55 percent to 33 percent) Democratic voters now say Obama—not Clinton—is the candidate they believe is more likely to defeat McCain in November.”
Even if this poll overstates Obama’s standing among Democratic voters, the publicity it’s likely to engender (such as on this wildly popular blog) could create a bandwagon effect going into Tuesday’s Pennsylvania primary.Â

UPDATE: It turns out that the woman who was shown on the ABC debate the other night questioning Barack Obama about the flag was not chosen at random. ABC went to her when they read an article about her having a jones for the flag. In short, Charlie Gibson and George Stephanopoulos didn’t want to stoop to posing such a ridiculous question themselves, so they found somebody to do it for them. Read about it HERE.
