ABC’s nightly newcast TOOK A BATH in the ratings last week after the network’s scandalously poor handling of the Democratic presidential debate.
Idiots.

Applesauce
Pat Cunningham offers an unabashedly liberal perspective on national politics. A note of caution: The language gets a litttle salty on some of the sites to which this blog links. So, don’t say you weren’t warned. By the way, this blog’s name is inspired by the Will Rogers quote, “All politics is applesauce.” |

Count me in on that! Of course I haven’t seen the nightly news since 9/11/01. Word has it that some woman is doing the reading on one of ‘em.

I see a trend, Tony Snow just hired on CNN. ABC may have taken a brief hit in ratings, but they will replace your liberal viewers (who think they are too smart to watch TV anyway) with right wing viewers who want a true fair and balance approach to news.

For a different view of the debate, I humbly submit-

WSJ is a pro american capitalist trade rag. We need to read the Marxist literature that Pat supports to get an accurate depiction of the events that transpired on CNN…like Huffpo or Daily Kos.

Kaus, you wouldn’t know Marxist literature if somebody read “Das Kapital” to you. You remind me of the people who think the Register Star is a leftist newspaper. They call it the Red Star. What a laugh!

Pat, the US almost fits the 10 planks of the Communist Manifesto now.
Obama’s Dad was marxist…fruit doesn’t fall far from the tree.
It doesn’t take much Government ownership and meddling to put us over the edge.
Mickey Kaus says we already are marxist too….http://www.slate.com/id/2189162/

Kaus: That commie-baiting stuff is sooo 1950s. And your claim that the US is close to fulfilling the 10 planks of the Communist Manifesto is rubbish. Here are those planks:
10 Planks of the Communist Manifesto
1. Abolition of property in land and application of all rents of land to public purposes.
2. A heavy progressive or graduated income tax.
3. Abolition of all right of inheritance.
4. Confiscation of the property of all emigrants and rebels.
5. Centralization of credit in the hands of the State, by means of a national bank with State capital and an exclusive monopoly.
6. Centralization of the means of communication and transport in the hands of the State.
7. Extension of factories and instruments of production owned by the State; the bringing into cultivation of waste-lands, and the improvement of the soil generally in accordance with a common plan.
8. Equal liability of all to labour. Establishment of industrial armies, especially for agriculture.
9. Combination of agriculture with manufacturing industries; gradual abolition of the distinction between town and country, by a more equable distribution of the population over the country.
10. Free education for all children in public schools. Abolition of children’s factory labour in its present form. Combination of education with industrial production.
Which of those do we already have? And which of those that you think we have should we get rid of? And how?
That’s your homework assignment. Lotsa luck.

Granted, some of the laws listed below are ok with me. But when we talk about raising the bar on capital gains, estate and inheritance taxes and eminant domain expansion…..This is called income redistribution extreme.
1. 14th amendment Eminant Domain and Rico Laws -
2. 16th amendment graduated income tax
3. Estate and Inheritance Taxes - my least favorite
4. Executive order 11490
5. Federal Reserve System - more power is being asked for
6. FCC - let’s shut down Rush
7. Dept. of Agriculture
8. Social Security and the Dept of Labor
9. Planning Reorganization act of 1949
10. Public Schools (where I first read the communist manifesto)
9. Pat Cunningham | April 24th, 2008 at 7:29 pm
Kaus: Two questions: Which of these commie schemes do you want to see repealed or shut down or whatever? And what the hell is No. 6 about (FCC - let’s shut down Rush)? You wanna get rid of the FCC? You wanna get rid of Rush? You think the FCC is trying to get rid of Rush? What are you talking about?
10. Kaus | April 24th, 2008 at 9:05 pm
Number 3 should be shuttered (inheritance taxes and capital gains). Number 6 regarding the FCC: I believe the Democratic Party would love to shut down Rush with its fairness doctrine. I love Rush, he’s hilarious…just like Jon Stewert (Lebowitz). So, I did my homework. You say I sound so fifties…well you sound so 60’s weatherman like….perhaps you and Mayor Daley should make pipe bombs on the weekends to show your support for the Obama campaign.
