The media and John McCain
May 4th, 2008 at 11:12am Pat Cunningham
Media hotshots SAY they’ll be taking a closer look at John McCain just as soon as they have the time and resources.
But, gosh, they’ve been so darned busy covering the pressing issues of flag pins, preachers and bowling scores, they haven’t had much chance to examine the flip-flops and misstatements of Mr. Straight Talk.
Pretty soon, though, they’re going to get right on it. Just you wait. Any day now. Coming right up. Get ready.

The media is still market driven…despite what purists biased by the fact they work for the media might tell you. If the customer base craves Mccain slamming, and the corporate branding of the product will sell more product…then it will happen. Fox News knows it’s customer base is conservative….HuffPO branding is liberal….it’s market driven. When Obama is elected and we shift to a Marxist government (i.e. owning the oil companies and media) then and only then will we see all the media coverage the same way.

Tim Russert certainly served up a sufficient number of softballs over the middle of the plate to Obama on Meet the Press today.

Mike: Y’mean he didn’t ask Obama to explain his middle name? Didn’t ask him if he’s ever had sex with Bill Ayers? Didn’t bring up bowling? Didn’t ask him if Tony Rezko loves America as much as he does? Well, Russert has a lot of nerve calling himself a journalist.

Mike: I haven’t seen the Russert-Obama interview, but I read that Russert spent fully 14 minutes on the Rev. Wright thing. What an idiot! Why are these media pinheads treated with such respect?

Kaus -
Could you cite some examples of Obama stating he favors a plan for the government to nationalize the oil companies and media? I just haven’t heard that.

Henry, pay no mind to Kaus. He’s off his meds again.

Pat-Russert did ask a number of questions about the Wright affair but they were good questions and allowed Obama to give lengthy, considered answers. If it was 14 minutes, 90% of the time was Obama talking and I thought he handled himself well. The vast majority of the interview was Iraq, Iran, Oil, the economy, Clinton’s response on Iran threatening Israel etc. I thought it was a good forum for Obama. Sorry, no flag pin questions.

Pat,
I don’t think Kaus is ever on his meds.
9. Kaus | May 5th, 2008 at 11:03 am
I am not taking meds, that IS my problem. I am the canary in the coal mine, and you over-medicated gents are the proverbial frog in the pot slowly coming to a boil.
My latest beef is Obama’s Global Poverty Bill. He may not nationalize our companies but he will tax them into submission to cover this 845 billiion dollar plan. He wants to help his Marxist Friends in South America and Africa…..
10. Henry | May 5th, 2008 at 9:37 pm
What friends in South America are you referring to? Can you provide any links to back up your statement about \’Marxist Friends in South America and Africa…?

God,
I wish we had any kind of friends in South America. We’ve ignored that continent since WWII when we sent Donald Duck and Orson Wells down as our only emissaries.
In 20 years or less we’ll be begging for a friend or two as they’ll be producing all of our food while we’re growing corn to save a nickel per gallon on gas. Brazil and Argentina will be deciding who eats, and who doesn’t.
