Applesauce
Pat Cunningham offers an unabashedly liberal perspective on national politics. A note of caution: The language gets a litttle salty on some of the sites to which this blog links. So, don’t say you weren’t warned. By the way, this blog’s name is inspired by the Will Rogers quote, “All politics is applesauce.”

The Wright scandal has hurt Obama so much that he’s jumped ahead of McCain by 11 points

From here on out, I would guess, Barack Obama’s political rivals are going to go easy on the rhetoric about Jeremiah Wright — lest Obama make any more gains like THESE.

How did that double digit lead turn out for President Dukakis?

  • 2. Pat Cunningham  |  May 5th, 2008 at 7:42 am

Hey, being ahead is better than being behind. But, of course, poll numbers in spring mean almost nothing about election results in fall. Still, these latest numbers at least attest to Obama having survived the Rev. Wright affair without too much damage.

I think you’ll know more by Tuesday night/Wednesday morning.

Good news for Obama. He can stop fumbling for answers to questions no one is supposed to ask. Michelle Obama’s whining seems to be paying dividends. Does ABC News get credit for the Obama-momentum?

Now, Michelle…..she is truly one Marxist lady who can spell income redistribution. That nasal voice is more irritating than Teresa-Heinz Kerry and Hillary Clinton put together.

Kaus, you’re sorely trying my patience with this silly Marxist stuff. I’m weighing whether to delete any more comments from you that contain the M-word (except in a serious context). You’re entitled to your opinions, of course, and I’m entitled to decide whether you’re too childish to participate here. At this point, the smart money is not in your favor. Michelle Obama is no more a Marxist than you’re a Rhodes scholar — which is to say, not at all.

    Pat -

Drop kick this Kaus thing through the goal posts of life. I can only speak for myself, but I’m tired of the name calling, personal attacks, and outright fabrications. It’s a bummer to see Kaus’s posts all over the blog. I don’t think Kaus’s opinion of someone’s tone of voice is legitimate political discourse. As Kaus said elsewhere, he/she is an idiot.

Henry: I appreciate your comment, but this isn’t going to be a referendum on Kaus. It’s my call. He can state the most outrageous opinions he can come up with, and that’s fine with me. But one more egregious falsehood from him about what I’ve written, and he disappears from Applesauce. (Do I sound like I’m drunk with power? Hey, I like it.)

Oops. Henry, part of my response to you relates to comments 11, 13, 14 and 15 on this post:

It’s the name calling, false labels, and fabrications that I object to. It lowers the level of discussion on the blog. Menlo Bob and the other righties are knowledgeable and back up their opinions with reason and logic. It’s your blog, if I don’t like the weather, I can move.
