The woman’s sign couldn’t be clearer. She isn’t advocating that English be the ‘official’ language, merely that it become the ‘offical’ language–meaning, the language one uses in the offical.

Actually, her shirt (blouse?) is OK. You can use patterns from the flag (stripes, stars, etc) as long as you don’t use the flag itself.

Great rejoinder, Chuck. You commenters who are less cultured than Chuck and I probably don’t even know that “Blame Canada” (from the movie “South Park”) is the only Oscar-nominated song in history that has the F-word in its lyrics. We need more of that in this country, more F-words in our songs, especially the songs that blame other countries for our problems. Y’know, like when we blame Mexico for everything. By the way, my favorites xenophobes are the ones who get all angry when they’re asked to press 1 for English or 2 for Spanish on the phone. What a terrible inconvenience.

You’re right , Tom. Bad spelling doesn’t make one a xenophobe. But that stupid sign the woman in the photo was carrying does. I find that lots of people who want English-only in this country aren’t very good at speaking or writing it. I say let’s deport ‘em.
