Comments on: Two peeks inside an asylum

Pat Cunningham offers an unabashedly liberal perspective on national politics. A note of caution: The language gets a litttle salty on some of the sites to which this blog links. So, don't say you weren't warned. By the way, this blog's name is inspired by the Will Rogers quote, "All politics is applesauce."

I seldom see any cable news programs so I'll have to take your word and Mr. B's on their quality but why do I suspect that your displeasure is tied more to the subject (I'm going to assume Obama and Wright, Bittergate et al) and less on the format. If the target was W, ask yourself if your reaction would be the same? If it would be-Mea Culpas all around.

Mr. B: The cable news channels are beyond bad. In order to fill their time, they cover all kinds of stories of dubious newsworthiness, and they offer endless prattling by people of marginal or nonexistent expertise. The anchorpeople usually are awful and often seem to have been hired strictly for their looks. There's also a tendency of late among news channel anchors to act out the stories they're reporting with contrived emotions and facial expressions. Dan Abrams at MSNBC and Rick Sanchez at CNN are especially egregious offenders in that regard. Don't get me started on this stuff, Mr. B. I'm old, and I'm cranky.

That's embarassing. There's so much drivel on these shows and it's not just on Fox News. The morning news/talk shows are the worst offenders.
