Oh, the shame! That Barack Obama fellow has actually visited San Francisco!

For several decades now, Republican campaigners have figured that one sure way to win over the good, decent, God-fearing, hard-working, law-abiding, white-bread eating, heterosexual folks in Middle America is to link Democrats with that infamous sin city, San Francisco.
Anybody remember Jeane Kirkpatrick’s famous “San Francisco Democrats” SPEECH at the 1984 Republican Convention?Â
Well, 24 years later, the GOP elite are singing pretty much the same song. Witness the gratuitous mention of San Francisco (replete with footage of a cable car) in this new Republican ad against Barack Obama:

Homophobia in this country is incredible and done a great amount of damage. Arguably it led to the Bush victory in 2004 where it became a major issue in Ohio and brought out enough religious conservatives to defeat Kerry in a close race. I still don’t understand how gay marraige somehow detracts from my marraige to a woman. It has nothing to do with me, my family or any heterosexual marraige. If you’re against it, then just don’t marry someone of the same gender.

Fear of terrorism caused conservatives to vote for Bush in 2004…not gay marriage. I’m scratching my head on comment #1. Homophobia has caused tremendous damage in the 21st century? Are you kidding me? Perhaps in the middle east, but not the USA.
By the way…Exxon Mobile is a great buy Mr. Baseball…earnings down almost a billion from the prior quarter.
