Comments on: Joe lets loose ’bout George Dubya Bu**sh**

Pat Cunningham offers an unabashedly liberal perspective on national politics. A note of caution: The language gets a litttle salty on some of the sites to which this blog links. So, don't say you weren't warned. By the way, this blog's name is inspired by the Will Rogers quote, "All politics is applesauce."

I don't think it's out of a fear to negotiate, it's the fear of putting lives at risk when the terrorists inevitably don’t live up to their end of the bargain. Al-Taqiyya anyone??

CR: Thanks for the catch regarding the headline. Correction made. As for talking with adversaries, I agree with JFK who said we should never negotiate out of fear and never fear to negotiate.

Pat! The title of this article should read lets not let's. Sloppy dude! Where's your editor when you need him/her?

I think talking to terrorist organizations is despicable. Whenver one of our statesmen talks to their leaders (ala Jimmah Carter) we are legitimizing their position. Do you really think sitting down and talking with terrorists could yield positive results? They aren't interested in peace or negotiations - they will only get badder and bolder.

Stop falling over yourselves to crucify Bu**sh at the price of common sense!

Sure, Democrats are narrow minded because they just won't listen to reason, right?

Biden having hair plugs was not really relevant...duh...it was a slow post day however, and I wanted to perculate some crativity in you narrow minded democrats. Most people in this blog love to call me names when they don\'t agree with me, so don\'t be so hypocritical. I would agree that the Democrats have a much bigger tent...thus needing publicly funded health care for their wide girth.

I know Biden has hair plugs. How is that relevant to his comments critical of Bush's speech? I should have used the phrase 'personal attack' instead of 'name calling'. Proust I'm not. Take a look at the Republican platform and you will find a bunch of positions in there that the American voters will be rejecting this fall. Finally, don't give me this crap about what a big tent the Republican party is. That's laughable.

Henry....I was not name calling. These are the facts...Joe Biden HAS hair plugs. If you look at the picture, you can see his hands raised in the air towards his head. I was making a visual assessment. Henry? Democrats and Republicans both resort to name calling, that is also a fact. Are the Republicans on the wrong side of every issue? I do believe there is a wide range of beliefs in the Republican party JUST like the Democrats. You can't be so narrow minded as to think that now can you?

Pat, it is hard to make a brilliant poltical argument for Bush and his golf game. Even I can't come up with a contrasting viewpoint on Bushie..... :-)

If Bush is right about talking to our enemies, then why aren't the Republicans condemning Ronald Reagan for talking with the head of the evil empire as he put it, or Richard Nixon for talking with the largest communist country in the world. The Soviet Union and China were much bigger threats than Al Qaida or Hamas will ever be.

One more thing Kaus. Like it or not, you are your ilk are going to get your asses kicked come November. This country is in a mess and after the election there are going to be big changes to begin to undo the damage Bush has inflicted on America. If you don't think so, the election this week in Mississippi should make it crystal clear the nation believes Republicans are on the wrong side of every important issue now facing the country.

I've noticed this tendency of some on the right to resort to name calling. I'll never forget local radio blabber Chris Bowman, and some of his regular callers, making fun of Chelsea Clinton's looks (along with Rush Limbaugh). I think it speaks volumes about the character of someone who resorts to that kind of thing. Perhaps I should start referring to McCain as scarface, to get down to Kaus' level.
