Well, I guess this means Mike Huckabee won’t be John McCain’s running mate

Any notions Mike Huckabee might have had about running for vice president on the Republican ticket probably died with the stupid joke he told today about somebody pointing a gun at Barack Obama.
As I said here the other day, I don’t figure John McCain would have picked Huckabee for the second slot anyway. This should pretty much cinch it.

Pat, sir,
I think that you have jumped to the entirely wrong conclusion. Huckabee’s disgusting “joke” did not hurt and may have helped his chances of being the VP nominee.
John McCain is well known to enjoy delivering tasteless, racist and otherwise offensive jokes and insults, often insulting someone who never did him no harm just for the sheer “fun” of it.
Consider this one, as delivered by John McCain said at a GOP fund-raiser in Washington in 1998:
“Why is Chelsea Clinton so ugly?
Because her father is Janet Reno.”

Huckabee’s obviously racist and disgusting attempt at humor shows me that he is keen to be the VP nominee and demonstrating that he has what it takes to bring out the best in John McCain.
In other words, Huckabee is a McCain wannabe.
