McCain gags on Hagee’s Hitler theory
May 22nd, 2008 at 06:01pm Pat Cunningham
John McCain has finally REJECTED the endorsement he so avidly sought from the Rev. John Hagee, but only after learning of the preacher’s theory that Adolf Hitler was God’s chosen instrument in forcing the Jews to move back to Israel.
POSTSCRIPT: Hey, it just occurred to me. Hagee’s endorsement is now available. Maybe Hillary Clinton could…Nah! Even she wouldn’t go that far. Would she?
POSTSCRIPT II: Today’s news about Hagee triggered a memory of something I posted last summer on my previous (now-defunct) blog. It was a video by Max Blumenthal of a conference of Hagee’s Christians United for Israel. I had completely forgotten that Joe Lieberman appears in the video as the featured speaker at Hagee’s big doings. Here it is:

Hagee is ‘just a peripheral thing’…no one cares…..especially Pat…when it comes to peripheral things,

Hagee is about the money, money, money and publicity. I really dont think anyone cares about his endorsement or not.. i know I and my friends dont…

Hagee is correct. He knows more about the bible than you ever will. And just because you have no faith, is no one’s fault but yours. You will see who is right, and have all eternity to think about how foolish you were.

Hey, Wade. I know a lot about the Bible. I know, for example, that it’s about baseball. It starts out: “In the big inning….” (Heh, heh. Little scriptural humor there.) But seriously, Wade. Do you think Hitler was God’s chosen instrument for dealing with the Jews? I’ll bet you do believe that. You seem to be a really pleasant guy, Wade. Pretty bright, too. Thanks for stopping by.

Wade, EVEN the Bible states that you should not lean on your own understanding Proverbs 3:5. Hagee has no idea what God’s master plan is. Anyone that says they do is a fraud….

Every sect is a certificate that God has not plainly revealed his will to man. To each reader the Bible conveys a different meaning.

You guys just dont get it. God uses terrible people to do his will. Jesus is coming, it is written. The Jews must have their country back and have the temple ready, that is written. Just because it is not popular does not mean God is not at work. Just remember its not about us.

Wade: So you DO agree with Hagee that Hitler was God’s chosen instrument.

Pat: You still don’t get it. God uses not chooses! Just like he used a certain Roman Governor named Piot to seal the fate of Jesus. God must allow free will on earth. But at the same time he makes good out of what is intended for evil. This is why I do not worry when bad people enter my life and cause bad situations for me. I know that God will use them to make me and my situation better. This is what is so great about God. So please be nice to Hagee. He is a spirit fill man of God who is here to serve us.

He is a sniveling, homophobic bigot and con man who lives like a sultan on the money he fleeces from dimwits. If he’s a man of God, I’m Zeus.

Hello Zeus: Safe to say you do not have a personal relationship with Jesus. Just quessing, I could be wrong but you seem to have alot of hostility inside of you. Someone must have really hurt you! Hopefully you will get over whatever it is that is causing you so much grief. I will pray for you!!

What bothers me most about his tempest in a teacup is this:
When, after being endorsed by Hagee, McCain was informed of Hagee’s anti-Catholic sermonizing, McCain distanced himself from Hagee’s remarks but refused to reject Hagee’s endorsement.
However, now that he has been informed of Hagee’s anti-Semitic remarks, McCain not only denounces those remarks but also, finally, rejects Hagee’s endorsement.
So, how can McCain feel that he can get away with being endorsed by an anti-Catholic but must be sensitive to being endorsed by an anti-Semite?
Follow the money.
