U.S. military vets are dying at a record pace

This Memorial Day 2008 rolls around at a time when U.S. military veterans are dying at a RECORD PACE of about 1,800 a day.

Last year, the median age of World War II veterans reached 84.  For Korean War vets, it was 76. For Vietnam, 60.

There are still more than 23 million living veterans, but the number is gradually dwindling.

Hey Sauce, what on earth do you mean–they’re dying at a record pace, but the living are gradually dwindling? Whose logic is at work here? Your Hillary hatred is taking a toll on your reasoning skills.

The number of living military veterans doesn’t decline with the deaths if the number of newly-minted veterans keeps pace. But that’s not the case now, of course, given the demographics of World War II, Korea, etc. There could be a time, though it likely will never come, when the number of living veterans increases.

I had to take my 83-year-old father to the Rockford Memorial Hospital Emergency Room on Monday. While everything turned out fine, I learned that if you take a wounded World War II veteran to the Emergency Room on Memorial Day, he gets treated like a real hero.

Tom: I hope your dad is doing well.
