As if theirs isn’t a lost cause, Clintonites seize on priest’s stupid remarks
May 30th, 2008 at 08:05am Pat Cunningham
The Rev. Michael Pfleger, a Chicago Catholic priest and acquaintance of Barack Obama, tastelessly and unfairly mocked Hillary Clinton in a sermon the other day.
Obama quickly faulted Pfleger for his “divisive, backward rhetoric.”
But the Clinton camp, as if oblivious to the hopelessness of Hillary’s candidacy, FAULTED OBAMA for not coming down on Pfleger a little harder.
Do these people actually think this mini-flap over Pfleger’s remarks will be the turning point that dooms Obama’s White House aspirations and carries Clinton to the Democratic presidential nomination?
What are they smoking?

You know Pat, I’ve been willing to cut Obama a great deal of slack on the whole Reverend Wright issue but you have to wonder about anyone who belongs to a church for 20+ years that seems to have one loon after another in the pulpit.

Mike: I dare say that anyone who spends much time in ANY church is bound to hear some looniness sooner or later. Some churches are just loonier than others.

The problem is that Obama’s Church has had Pleger there on more than one occaision…the dogma of THIS church and its leadership is loonacy not just who is in the pulpit on a particular day. By the way, Plager was offensive to more than just Hillary. I am offended by this race baiting fraud.

Pfleger sounds a lot like Applesauce with Hillary bashing and a heavy focus on racist inuendo? Could it be that they are one and the same?

One and the same? No, he’s a practicing Catholic. I’m a recovering Catholic.

Francis Cardinal George is the real practicing Catholic. This guy–not so much.

Actually, Bob, the old practice of putting the title “Cardinal” between the first and last names has pretty much faded away. It was never an official thing, anyway. But most of the media now refer to, for example, Cardinal Francis George. Twenty-one years ago, a spokesman for the National Conference of Catholic Bishops said:
”There has been no formal decree to change the placement of Cardinal from its traditional use after the first name. It has become an informal option.”
Today, the secular media almost invariably put the “Cardinal” first.
