Applesauce
Pat Cunningham offers an unabashedly liberal perspective on national politics. A note of caution: The language gets a litttle salty on some of the sites to which this blog links. So, don’t say you weren’t warned. By the way, this blog’s name is inspired by the Will Rogers quote, “All politics is applesauce.”

They make it sound as if changing one’s mind is criminal, but what is really being communicatied is the devasting effect of one particular political commercial and the desire for some to catch lightning in a bottle again.

For those with a memory, the original use of the term flip flop was attributed to John Kerry who inartfully said ““I actually did vote for the $87 billion before I voted against it.” It was symptomatic of the cluelessness of the candidate. The phrase stuck when Republicans ran a commercial with footage of Kerry windsurfing and alternated the image in one direction and the next. This resonated with voters.

It’s hard to believe that anyone will be more identified with the term flip flop than Kerry. And that is the problem with remakes.
