Applesauce
Pat Cunningham offers an unabashedly liberal perspective on national politics. A note of caution: The language gets a litttle salty on some of the sites to which this blog links. So, don’t say you weren’t warned. By the way, this blog’s name is inspired by the Will Rogers quote, “All politics is applesauce.”

Your “liberal” media in action (Part 483)

Why don’t those darn media people cut John McCain a little slack?

Wait! What am I saying?

Hey, I made a joke. No, really.  If you don’t get it, Jamison Foser can EXPLAIN.

On this one you and I are in agreement. It’s pack journalism at its worst–I suspect it is due to writers liking a good story. John McCain exhibited loyalty to his country beyond all reason, but the presidency is larger than military experience. Wesley Clark said nothing that should be controversial. Similarly, John Kerry was celebrated out of proportion in the press for his meager military credentials. We still don’t know what his military records show. He’s allowed only 3 reporters to see them and the press won’t ask. We honor their service, but if that’s all you’ve got it isn’t enough.

No, the militray record is not qualifies him to become president, but having a strong history and voting record to judge him on does. Unlike Obama, McCain at least has some sort of history to hang a hat on and prove his merits (whether you agree or not with his stance). Obama, however, has no real experience in leading anything outside of maybe his college years. Personally I have always leaned to the Republican side, but have kept an open mind when hearing out candidates. In this case though, it is tough when you have this popular candidate who tuly has no track record to know what you are getting. The unknown is honestly what scares many folks the most, and hopefully we are not put in a position where the unknown is what wins out this Fall.

MC–Sure Obama has no track record, but he does have two positions on every topic. What’s not to like?
