Applesauce
Pat Cunningham offers an unabashedly liberal perspective on national politics. A note of caution: The language gets a litttle salty on some of the sites to which this blog links. So, don’t say you weren’t warned. By the way, this blog’s name is inspired by the Will Rogers quote, “All politics is applesauce.”

The amazing longevity of the Founding Fathers

Several of the framers of the U.S. Constitution lived to be pretty old, but none as old as Jonah Goldberg suggests.

The other day, I told you HERE about a ridiculous column in which Goldberg, a conservative writer, posited that Barack Obama’s plan to require community service of college kids receiving federal student loans is perhaps a violation of the constitutional amendment banning slavery.

Well, now Goldberg is waxing even ridiculouser (to coin a word). In THIS LITTLE NOTE of self-congratulations, he employs the misassumption that the anti-slavery amendment, which was adopted in 1865, was written by “the founders.”

On paper, young Jonah is better educated than I. In reality, not so much.
