And, along that line, as you investigate the WSJ's tax numbers from a previous thread I did some checking for you. Despite the assurances of the liberal economists that the Bush tax cuts would blow a 1 trillion dollar hole in the budget, the deficit fell in half from 2003 to 2007 as federal revenues soared by a record $750 billion. The water-cooler vote is in, and the verdict is that Obama's rhetorical flourishes are too egotistical. Our next referendum at the office will deal with the comparative egotism of John McCain's bold declaration: "I know how to win wars." Such words were never heard from the apparently inferior likes of Washington, Grant, Pershing, Eisenhower, MacArthur or even Petraeus. Can old John live up to his boast? Did his ordeal as a POW, which he admittedly faced with great courage, uniquely equip him to win not just one war, but "wars" (plural)? Well, that settles it then.
