The big scandal that fizzled

Six days ago, I predicted HERE that a blowback would soon arise against the false charge that Barack Obama had dishonorably cancelled a visit to wounded U.S. troops at a military hospital in Germany.
Well, the counterattack has gained momentum day by day, despite silly campaign distractions concerning Britney Spears and Paris Hilton. Gradually, independent analysts and newspaper editorials began to denounce the slur about the hospital. And on Thursday, in the face of this mounting criticism, John McCain’s campaign begrudgingly DISOWNED a key element of the TV ad it had been running on the matter.
McCain himself, however, has not apologized for the scurrilous ad, which bore his personal approval.
And now we have this scathing indictment:

Absolutely, newspaper editorialists were up in arms. Let me know when they actually influence anyone other than fellow travelers. Where it didn’t fizzle was among voters. Obama’s Berlin bounce is gone and it is now the fodder of effective anti-Obama commercials.
