A fun question for a lazy summer Sunday

Try this one on family or friends:
What one thing comes to mind when you ponder these words as a group?:
Black, white, brown, gray, strong, moody, chase, hunt, stone, field, woods, story, burger, brewer, frankfurter, butler and day.
To be fair about this, you should not turn to Google or any other Internet search engine. Register your guesses in the comments section, and I’ll acknowledge the first correct answer (which, of course, has to match the one thing that was on my mind when I put that list of words together).
This little quiz is just for entertainment purposes. No wagering, please.
UPDATE: After nearly 12 hours, nobody has even ventured a guess.
The answer is that all those words are surnames of former U.S. Supreme Court justices.

I just went to comment on this and my answer was the U.S. Supreme Court. I couldn’t come up with all the names but enough of them led me to that answer. Mrs. Baseball will confirm that I had the answer before seeing your update.

Mr. B: I feel like a teacher accepting a student’s excuse for being late with his homework, but I know you to be a man of at least marginal integrity, so I’m giving you the affirmative nod on this one. I tried this little quiz in a different forum a few years ago, and all but one of about a dozen responses were wrong. If I didn’t already know the answer, “frankfurter” might be a tip-off for me. I’m aware of Felix Frankfurter’s tenure on the high court, and nobody uses that word for hot dog anymore. Incidentally, the word “wiener” has pretty much disappeared, too, because of its vulgar connotation. (Unfortunately for some folks, it’s also a not uncommon surname.)

I am glad I did not answer. I would have looked like a bigot. I was thinking about Nazi Germany for some strange reason.
