Democrats seem to believe that the companies that find, pump, ship, process and distribute gasoline are the enemy. When the day comes that a new way to power automobiles is in wide use, whomever develops that will become the new enemy of Democrats. They have a profound lack of appreciation of what it takes to have the economy we rely upon and take pleasure in bashing those who do perform a necessary service.

Any industry that sells a lot of something is bound to have a large number in in the profits column. Large numbers are meaningless in large industries–the percent of sales counted as profits is what’s important. Exxon Moblile made 10% of sales in profits, well behind many other large corporations that no one complains about. If large numbers are bad then collecting even larger amounts in taxes should be worse–no? What’s Obama’s plan to reduce profits of trial lawyers or movie studios?
