Applesauce
Pat Cunningham offers an unabashedly liberal perspective on national politics. A note of caution: The language gets a litttle salty on some of the sites to which this blog links. So, don’t say you weren’t warned. By the way, this blog’s name is inspired by the Will Rogers quote, “All politics is applesauce.”

Jack Cafferty cuts loose — with a vengeance

CNN’s resident curmudgeon Jack Cafferty fired both barrels today, one aimed at John McCain and the other at George W. Bush.

I’ll try to find a video clip. Meanwhile, HERE’s the story.

UPDATE: I guess there is no video.  Cafferty’s tirade was a commentary posted on the CNN Web site.  READ IT ALL.

I’ve been disappointed in McCain, but to compare him to W, as Caffferty does, is not fair. Bush is in a class by himself and whenever he has a chance to improve his image, he fails. The latest is the Olympics where he comes across as a total buffoon, joking around with the women’s beach volleyball team like some fratboy.

You’ve only been disappointed in McCain? The guy’s a full-fledged disaster who changes his mind from one minute to the next, impugns the patriotism of Obama, denies saying and doing the things he’s said and done, surrounds himself with the same Karl Rove gang that slimed him eight years ago — and you’re only disappointed? C’mon, Mr. B. Don’t disappoint me.

I’ve never been able to figure out this ‘questioning my patriotism’ nonsense. It must be a lot like the racism, sexism, homophobia noise that people like to throw around to get over on someone who hasn’t said anything near where the charges could be substantiated. The only time anyone has questioned Obama on anything he made a speech that got superceded by the facts–which lead him to give a shorter speech retracting the first speech. Obama has a history he wants everyone not to notice.

Republicans like to pretend they’re more patriotic than everybody else. McCain’s no different from the rest of them with all his crap about Obama willing to lose a war to advance his presidential ambitions. It’s like all the baloney about flag pins.

Way to go Jack, I just hope people are listening to him.

Bob: My dictionary defines “patriot” thusly: “one who loves his country and supports its authority and interests.” So what’s your point?
