McCain was for these three Supreme Court justices before he was against them

During a church forum this past Saturday night, John McCain was asked by Pastor Rick Warren to name the current Supreme Court justices he would not have nominated were he the president.
McCain named Justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Stephen Breyer, David Souter (above, left to right) and John Paul Stevens.
Well, McCain wasn’t in the Senate when Stevens was nominated, but he was there when each of the other three came up for confirmation. And he voted for them.

Those with longer memories–I assume you fit that description–remember how the process used to work. Back in the day the Senate Judicial Committee merely determined whether the president’s supreme court choice was qualified. The Democrats got frustrated with losing the presidency and decided to ignore tradition and politicized the process. McCain wasn’t playing that game.

That’s funny. Now you’re trying to give me history lessons. Nice try. The Constitution gives the Senate the final word on judicial nominations. The Founding Fathers never intended for the responsibility to be used as a mere rubber stamp. Your argument makes no sense, logically or historically.
