Has Obama chosen Bayh?

A TV station in Kansas City REPORTS that an area print shop is preparing campaign literature for an “Obama/Bayh” ticket, indicating that Barack Obama has selected Sen. Evan Bayh of Indiana as his running mate.
There’s no confirmation on this, and the Obama camp has yet to send the eagerly-awaited text messages to supporters.
Meanwhile, I have to run an urgent errand and will be gone for the next few hours, which probably means the official announcement will come while I’m gone. Oh, well.
UPDATE: MSNBC is reporting that Bayh has been told he didn’t make the cut and that the same verdict was conveyed to Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine.
That means a lot of doubling down on Sen. Joe Biden, I suppose.
I don’t look for the nod to go to either Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius or Rep. Chet Edwards of Texas (who emerged today as a longshot, mainly because Nancy Pelosi likes him).
I’m beginning to wonder about Obama’s strategy of dragging this thing on so long after having made his choice. What could be the advantage in carrying this drama so far?
Well, it does suck most of the oxygen out of the political news sphere, doesn’t it? McCain would have to buy another house (or persuade his wife to) to gain much attention in this climate. Don’t bet on that.

Nope. It’s Biden. It’ll be a good team–arogant and smug.
