Elderly Applesauce CEO slept through text-message beep concerning choice of Biden

Joe Biden doubtless was still awake when the Obama camp sent out its text message shortly after 2 a.m. CDT today confirming that the Delaware senator had been selected as the Democratic vice-presidential nominee.
But I’m 11 days older than Biden, which helps explain why I slept through the announcement. The cell phone at my bedside beeped, I’m sure, but I didn’t hear it.
Still, I can brag that Applesauce had the news even before the text message went out. The Associated Press and CNN sniffed out the story prior to the announcement, and several regular visitors to this blog quickly passed it along in the comments section of an earlier post. My thanks to them.
And congratulations to the McCain camp for having an ad ready to go in response to the choice of Biden. (See it in the post below this one.)
POSTSCRIPT: By the way, my rrstar.com blogmate Chuck Sweeny had the news at 12:28 a.m. — while I was asleep at the proverbial switch.

No doubt you are going to get an earful at the next Applesauce Board of Directors meeting. Oh the shame!
