Applesauce
Pat Cunningham offers an unabashedly liberal perspective on national politics. A note of caution: The language gets a litttle salty on some of the sites to which this blog links. So, don’t say you weren’t warned. By the way, this blog’s name is inspired by the Will Rogers quote, “All politics is applesauce.”

Voters might also focus on Obama’s inability to know where he is in the world. Last night’s convention featured a remote telecast from Kansas City. Barack Obama came on screen and proceeded to claimed to be in both St. Louis and Kansas City.

The Presumtive Republican nominee; John McSame!

  • 3. LD  |  August 26th, 2008 at 12:24 pm

Speaking of ties, did you know McCain was tied up for 5 years in a POW camp?

  • 4. Pat Cunningham  |  August 26th, 2008 at 12:36 pm

Bob makes an excellent point in Comment No. 1. I think this gaffe by Obama makes all of McCain’s goofy misstatements and lapses of memory pale by comparison. So what if McCain doesn’t know how many houses he owns? At least he probably knows the difference between St. Louis and Kansas City. But seriously, folks, stuff like this is very important to Republicans stuck with an inarticulate, absent-minded, flip-flopping candidate who represents four more years of the most unpopular, incompetent president of our time. Their battle cry: Remember the Kansas City gaffe!

LD: How could we NOT know McCain was a POW? He uses it as an excuse for every misstatement he makes.

You Big Dummy, he was talking about the St. Louis-Kansas City twin cities in the wonderful 56th state that he had been campaigning in a few months ago. Is Baraks buddie Willie Ayers speaking tonight or is he hanging around the capital again pretending it’s the 4th of July????

    WE’RE SCREWED ‘08

Ah, yes, Willie Ayers. The last hope of the right-wing dimwits. Lots of luck with that stuff, Steelhead. If this doesn’t work out for you, you’ll have to go back to the claim that Obama is secretly a Muslim.

Does Steelhawk also remember the Keating Five?

  • 9. LD  |  August 26th, 2008 at 2:39 pm

That’s ancient history Craig! The Keating 5, being against MLK day or dumping a disfigured wife for a hot new model (with beer!) is all in the distant past and doesn’t matter.

You just don’t talk about things that far in the past….unless it’s a plagiarized speech.

  • 10. hokumboy  |  August 26th, 2008 at 6:23 pm

    Besides,
You’ve got to excuse The Keating 5, MLK Day oposition, and dumping the wife who waited for him. He spent time in a prison camp.

  • 11. Billybeermonicagar  |  August 26th, 2008 at 7:28 pm

Willie Ayers may be the last hope of “the right-wing dimwits”, but what about those people that don’t want to be taxed to death by a man who has more new programs , but no way to pay for them.

  • 12. Billybeermonicagar  |  August 26th, 2008 at 7:33 pm

hokumboy, please don’t talk about divorce. It may hurt someones feelings.

  • 13. Craig Knauss  |  August 27th, 2008 at 8:47 am

LD says, “That’s ancient history Craig! The Keating 5, being against MLK day or dumping a disfigured wife for a hot new model (with beer!) is all in the distant past and doesn’t matter.”

WRONG. It’s just as relevant as all the BS the right wing is bringing up about Obama’s or any other Democrat’s past. The “Ancient History” is always used by the Republicans to hide their past, while they dig up old dirt on the Dems. Do you really think McCain had treatment for his untoward tendencies? Inquiring minds want to know. (And we don’t give a damn about flag pins!)

  • 14. Steelhawk  |  August 27th, 2008 at 10:02 am

I do remember the Keating 5, and no, I don’t support McCain and wouldn’t vote for McCain. Unlike Fat Cunningham, I don’t tow the line for any political party. Righ wing Dimwits because someone doesn’t want a friend of a terrorist to be the POTUS. Fat, you are one smart cookie.

  • 15. LD  |  August 27th, 2008 at 11:37 am

Craig, according to my GOP playbook, my response to you should now be, McCain’s history includes time he spent as a POW!

Notice I did not use the word ancient in that sentence.

  • 16. Craig Knauss  |  August 27th, 2008 at 1:34 pm

“McCain’s history includes time he spent as a POW”. Which means what? That being a POW means he should be president? One of my uncles was a POW and all he got was a special license plate. Or do you mean that he was a POW while the Lincoln S&L scandle was going on? Not even close. It was unfortunate that while McCain was rotting in a POW camp, George W. Bush was out partying. Did you hold that against Bush? Chappaquiddic (or however it’s spelled) is “ancient history” too, except the right wing loves to keep bringing it up, per your GOP playbook, every time the need arises to discredit Ted Kennedy. Past scandles reveal the tendency to error in judgement. So being aware of “ancient history” can help one avoid repeating it.
