A rare treat for my Obamaphobe friends

If you’re a part of that political minority that dislikes Barack Obama, I have a gift for you that you’re sure to enjoy.
It’s a column from Asia Times Online by a guy who calls himself simply Spengler, a reference no doubt to the German historian and philosopher Oswald Spengler, who is best known for his two-volume work “Decline of the West,” which was first published nearly 90 years ago.
Our latter-day Spengler, whose real identity is unknown to the masses, predicts that Obama will lose in November because of his “flawed character.”
I find it all a bit over the top, but Spengler is serious. Check it out HERE. (And don’t say I’ve never been gracious with my intellectual lessers.)
UPDATE: Gosh, I hate to say this, I really do, but after reading Spengler’s piece four times, I’m beginning to wonder if it’s not very subtle — I mean very subtle — satire. Lemme know what you think.

Pat, thanks for your continued efforts in unting this great nation, to all people of all cultures and ideas (except white Americans, Christians, successful small business owners, self-dependent citizens and of course anyone holding conservative values!) We all know that these people are complete idiots and deserve no respect or seat at the table of uniting thru open dialogue.

You’re quite welcome, MDH. Glad to be of help, even if your pointed mention of “white Americans” suggests that you’re a racist. By the way, it might interest you to know that most Obama supporters are white Americans, most liberals are white Americans, most Democrats are white Americans — and I’m a white American. Hooray for us white Americans!

Oh, I forgot: Obama is half white American. So you can probably relate to half of him, right?

We’ve suspected your blog to be satire as well.

Yeah, Bob, but it’s very, very subtle. Seriously, though, what did you make of the Spengler piece? He seems to mean what he writes, but still…

Pat-in my not so humble opinion, the piece only makes sense as Satire.

Actually, I’ve FINALLY figured it out
I just finished reading a little book called
“The Sociopath Next Door”
It’s a line by line description of the Sociopath and the tendencies
he or she displays.
OMG.
It looks like a primer for membership into the Far Right-Wing-Nut Agenda
Their all friggin Sociopaths, It’s really THAT simple.
Check it out !

Drat it all, Mike! I wanted this to be a gift to the McCainiacs. Are you sure it’s satire? I’m still undecided. If you’re right, then Spengler is enigmatic, to say the least. I’d like to be able to emulate his style, but it’s beyond my meager talents. (Or have I pulling a Spengler all along? Am I actually a McCainiac myself? The Shadow knows….ha, ha, ha, ha!)

Pat-I was vacationing in far northern Wisconsin last week so I saw most of the convention in primetime as the cabin TV only picked up the networks. I saw Obama’s speech and, while not his best, it was still pretty damn good. That’s why it has to be satire.
You owe us a gift.
