Still the same John McCain

Applesauce
Pat Cunningham offers an unabashedly liberal perspective on national politics. A note of caution: The language gets a litttle salty on some of the sites to which this blog links. So, don’t say you weren’t warned. By the way, this blog’s name is inspired by the Will Rogers quote, “All politics is applesauce.” |

The real story HERE is that John McCain has a media decoder ring, and Barack Obama doesn’t.

Hint: It’s another governor unqualified for high federal office.

Let’s face it. By the end of the Bush presidency, China will have acquired everything in this country that other foreign investors haven’t already snatched up.
Today, it MIGHT BE be Lehman Bros. Tomorrow, who knows?
Lehman’s problem is that it’s caught up in the FINANCIAL MESS that Phil Gramm, John McCain’s economic guru, helped create.

Just askin’, you understand.
Y’see, John McCain’s former friend the Rev. John Hagee (above), whose endorsement McCain ardently pursued but has since renounced,  has said on several occasions that Hurricane Katrina was God’s way of cancelling a gay pride parade that had been set for the very day the big storm hit New Orleans.
Hagee also has suggested that all natural catastrophes are God’s way of dealing with one bad thing or another.
So, it only follows that Hurricane Ike is divinely intended to punish Houston for something Hagee sees as evil. Strangely, however, the good reverend seems to be silent on the matter.
Too bad Jerry Falwell (another of McCain’s good friends) isn’t still around to give us guidance on this situation. It was Falwell, you’ll recall, who joined with Pat Robertson in blaming America for 9/11 because of our libertine attitudes about gays and feminists and what not.

Andrew Sullivan SAYS Barack Obama “has been president for quite a while already.”
When Obama suggested 13 months ago that the United States should make military incursions into Pakistan in pursuit of Osama bin Laden and al-Qaeda, if intelligence reports warrant them, John McCain scoffed at the notion of invading a “sovereign” country.
But now comes word that President Bush secretly approved orders in June allowing American forces to conduct ground operations in Pakistan without consent of the Islamabad government.
Bush’s strategy in this regard, which mirrors Obama’s advice, has made McCain suddenly silent on the matter. Perhaps Mr. Straight Talk is too preoccupied by such issues as lipstick on pigs.
