The Palin bubble has burst

Several polls this week SHOW that the Sarah Palin novelty is beginning to wear off, and the Republican vice-presidential nominee’s popularity is sinking.

A survey released today by Research 2000, a non-partisan firm with one of the best records in the field, puts Palin’s unfavorable rating ahead of her favorables.

I figured it wouldn’t take too long for people to realize just how unqualified this gal is. The lies of the McCain/Palin ticket are just horrible too, the whole “Obama wanting to teach sex ed to kindergarden kids” was the worst. Shame on them. The whole thing about being able to see Russia from Alaska is being laughed at around the world.POP goes the bubble.

  2. This is what is the actual bill about sex education says, looks spot on, if you ask me.

“Each class or course in comprehensive sex
education offered in any of grades K through 12 shall
include instruction on the prevention of sexually transmitted
infections, including the prevention, transmission and spread
    of HIV.”

That does seem to me be sex education for elementary students!

  3. Lets see what Palin actually said in the interview that was edit out by ABC. Here the complete answer from the transcript. This is what was really said. Do you think they would have edited this way for Obama?

GIBSON: Let’s start, because we are near Russia, let’s start with Russia and Georgia.

The administration has said we’ve got to maintain the territorial integrity of Georgia. Do you believe the United States should try to restore Georgian sovereignty over South Ossetia and Abkhazia?

PALIN: First off, we’re going to continue good relations with Saakashvili there. I was able to speak with him the other day and giving him my commitment, as John McCain’s running mate, that we will be committed to Georgia. And we’ve got to keep an eye on Russia. For Russia to have exerted such pressure in terms of invading a smaller democratic country, unprovoked, is unacceptable and we have to keep…

    GIBSON: You believe unprovoked.

PALIN: I do believe unprovoked and we have got to keep our eyes on Russia, under the leadership there. I think it was unfortunate. That manifestation that we saw with that invasion of Georgia shows us some steps backwards that Russia has recently taken away from the race toward a more democratic nation with democratic ideals. That’s why we have to keep an eye on Russia.

And, Charlie, you’re in Alaska. We have that very narrow maritime border between the United States, and the 49th state, Alaska, and Russia. They are our next door neighbors. We need to have a good relationship with them. They’re very, very important to us and they are our next door neighbor.

GIBSON: What insight into Russian actions, particularly in the last couple of weeks, does the proximity of the state give you?

PALIN: They’re our next door neighbors and you can actually see Russia from land here in Alaska, from an island in Alaska.

GIBSON: What insight does that give you into what they’re doing in Georgia?

PALIN: Well, I’m giving you that perspective of how small our world is and how important it is that we work with our allies to keep good relation with all of these countries, especially Russia. We will not repeat a Cold War. We must have good relationship with our allies, pressuring, also, helping us to remind Russia that it’s in their benefit, also, a mutually beneficial relationship for us all to be getting along.

We also see from Palin’s following remark, which was also edited out, that she is far from some sort of latter day Cold Warrior which the edited interview made her seem to be:

We cannot repeat the Cold War. We are thankful that, under Reagan, we won the Cold War, without a shot fired, also. We’ve learned lessons from that in our relationship with Russia, previously the Soviet Union.

We will not repeat a Cold War. We must have good relationship with our allies, pressuring, also, helping us to remind Russia that it’s in their benefit, also, a mutually beneficial relationship for us all to be getting along.

  4. No McCain/No Palin No Way

We need strong leadership … Palin would be ineffective as VP and DANGEROUS as Pres. VOTE OBAMA/BIDEN

  5. How can anyone defend this neanderthal? she is a disgrace to women and other educated people. I just read the best description of her in another rrforum “yeah, the book-banning, nepotism hiring, college hopping (really, 6 in 6 years?) speaking in tongues and laying on the hands healer who charges the taxpayers to stay overnight in HER OWN FREAKIN house and lies about her being in Iraq whose foreign policy experience is saying she can see russia from the tip of Alaska (which is thousands of miles from where she is) surely wouldn’t interfere with due process and legitimate government subpoenas. After all, she says she believes government must be transparent–and then hides and lies some more…she didn’t fire the guy cuz he took an unauthorized trip (although she lied and said she did) because her STAFF’s top person authorized the trip……..she is a religious freak who is hiding her tax returns, obstructing a legal and legitimate inquiry into her illegal and illegitimate (and I ain’t talkin’ about her daughter’s kid) firing of a state employee as revenge for her sister’s custody battle. She is so prepared that mccan’t wont let her out of his sight–ain’t it interesting that this freak must be babysat so mclie, heiress adulterer wife, and first dude (who sits in on OFFICIAL government committee meeting and meetings witth state executives) have to all be on the same stage together. She must be really untrustworthy and an absolute moron that rather than turn her lose on the national stage (god forbid she answer any questions from reporters EVER) they all hang together instead of being in 4 different campaign stops…….wow this mouth who just four years ago longed to be a TV anchorwoman, is a dandy. oh yeah, and the women of Wasilla thank you for making them pay $1200 each for their own RAPE kits to prosecute rapists..so sarah is the rapist protector too, huh? certainly wouldn’t want to abort those rapists babies..and this idiot does not believe in global warming or dinasours…where does the GOP find these uneducated, dummies?”

the world is starting to see her for what she is: and idealogue and puppet of the crazy right wing. why doesn’t she just go hunt witches with her pastor and push her psychotic beliefs on unsuspecting natives far away from the USA?

  6. Barryfan, read the real transcript of the conversation about Russia. Also, if you knew anything, the Bering Straights is only 58 miles at it narrowest point. Non of the things you are accusing her of here have actually been verified, even the rape-kit issue. They got this from people who ran against her. They are still waiting for the public records. Your a typical liberal. I am sure you will point to me a liberal blog of some sort. Were is the vetting of OBAMA.

  7. SpeckleMe

Barryfan, I bet you\’d love the article in the latest Rolling Stone about Palin. That writer has her nailed down! Didn\’t miss a beat.

Dingdong, looks like you lack basic reading comprehension…I will break it down for you…
“Each class or course in comprehensive sex
education offered in any of grades K through 12 shall
include instruction on the prevention of sexually transmitted
infections, including the prevention, transmission and spread
    of HIV.”
The shall is after offered, in other words if the course isn’t offered it shall not include it. If the bill said comprehensive sex education courses SHALL be offered, your argument would correct. However, it is not worded such and your argument is wrong. I highly doubt that there are any comprehensive sex education courses being offered to kindergarteners, and certainly not mandated that they are (that would require the use of that troublesome shall again…) Frankly, I would hope that a comprehensive sex education would include information on STDs, considering the statistics on their prevalence among teenagers. Quit defending an ad that was patently false and move on.

  9. Milton Waddams

    Dingdong (what a fitting name):
Additionally, you couldn’t read Barryfans comment either…he said that where she is in Alaska is thousands of miles from the tip of Alaska, not that the tip is thousands of miles from Russia.
