Wall Street Journal blasts McCain
September 19th, 2008 at 01:44pm Pat Cunningham
It’s no surprise when the conservative editorial board of the Wall Street Journal takes a swipe at Barack Obama, as it did this morning, but it’s big news when the same editorial focuses most of its fire on John McCain.
The editorial says McCain “doesn’t understand what’s happening on Wall Street any better than Barack Obama does.”
The paper goes on to characterize McCain’s scapegoating of Securities and Exchange Commission Chairman Christopher Cox as “false and deeply unfair” and “un-Presidential.”
The Journal concludes that McCain “is sounding like a candidate searching for a political foil rather than a genuine solution.”

UPDATE: Whoa! Another right-wing news shop is barking at McCain. Fox News WANTS Mr. Straight Talk to take the voice of one of it reporters out of a certain TV ad.

Pat, the headline for this post is a typical HALF-truth, as this line from the WSJ story shows: The editorial says McCain “doesn’t understand what’s happening on Wall Street any better than Barack Obama does.” . That sounds like BOTH candidates were rebuked EQUALLY, doesn’t it?

Snuss: Read the damn editorial again. Virtually the whole thing blasts McCain for scapegoating Chris Cox and for “sounding like a candidate searching for a political foil rather than a genuine solution.” The piece DOES NOT rebuke both candidates equally, as you put it. Not even close. It takes a joint swipe at McCain and Obama at the start, and the remaining 95 percent specifically rebukes McCain. You need a remedial reading course. If I asked a literate person who was completely disinterested in politics to read that editorial and tell me which of the two candidates got the worst of it, there’s no doubt what the answer would be. Wow! Your political bias blinds you to the plainly obvious. Amazing.

They still indicate their opinion that BOTH candidates have a equal lack of fiscal knowledge. They simply specified their opposition to McCain’s response. That doesn’t mean they find Obama’s ideas any more palatable.

The reason they didn’t respond to Obama’s ideas is probably that they haven’t yet been written, and put on a teleprompter, so Obama can tell us what they are.

Give it up, snuss. The Journal blasted McCain, but good, and nothing you say is going to change that. The guy’s a phony, and he doesn’t even know that a president can’t fire the chairman of the SEC.
