There are lots of villains in THIS STORY, perhaps none so prominent as Alan Greenspan (above).

Applesauce
Pat Cunningham offers an unabashedly liberal perspective on national politics. A note of caution: The language gets a litttle salty on some of the sites to which this blog links. So, don’t say you weren’t warned. By the way, this blog’s name is inspired by the Will Rogers quote, “All politics is applesauce.” |

Wow….another gaping hole in your logic addled mind Cunningham….bogus….Mccain got it right….democrat Barney Frank doesn’t have a clue:
In 2006 Mccain said “Mr. President, this week Fannie Mae’s regulator reported that the company’s quarterly reports of profit growth over the past few years were “illusions deliberately and systematically created” by the company’s senior management, which resulted in a $10.6 billion accounting scandal.
In 2003, Frank rejected Bush administration and Congressional Republican efforts for the most significant regulatory overhaul in the housing finance industry since the savings and loan crisis.[”These two entities, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, are not facing any kind of financial crisis,” Frank said.

Kaus, Pat will never respond to this, because it is actually on the record and not an editorial.

Kaus & DingDong: Two things: 1) I don’t always respond to every comment from you, because I often have other things to do, and because you often make little or no sense. 2) We could all go back and forth with unfortunate statements made by liberal or conservative politicians three, six, 10 or 20 years ago, but I want to leave you with something John McCain said just SIX DAYS AGO: “The fundamentals of our economy are strong.” Three days later, Bernanke and Paulson were telling lawmakers that the financial system was on the brink of complete meltdown. Face it, boys, your candidate has got his butt in a political sling with the current condition of the economy.
